19-Year-Old Man Nearly Lynched To Death For Stealing Five fowls

A fowl thief nearly met his end after residents of a community caught him with five stolen fowls and descended heavily on him.

A 19-year-old man who has been stealing people’s fowls nearly lost his life after an angry mob allegedly caught him stealing five fowls at Awutu Bereku in the Central region of Ghana.

Narrating the incident to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei, a member of the Awutu Bereku Watch Dog Committee, Kwaku Adawu said residents have been complaining of their missing fowls in the area for some months.

He revealed that about 10 fowls have been stolen in one month and as a result, the youth from the area set up a watch dog committee to help deal with suspects when arrested.

“I was at home when some residents called and told me that a boy had been caught red handed with five fowls. I quickly rushed to the place but before I got there, they had already beaten him mercilessly and were about to lynch him”.

“But I think he deserves it because stealing is not a good thing. They would have killed him if I had not intervened” he said.

The suspect was later handed over to the Awutu Bereku police.

One of the owners of the stolen fowls identified as Gifty, expressed happiness that the thief has finally been caught.
