Agbahime’s murder: Five suspects arraigned in Kano


The prime suspect in the murder of Mrs. Bridget Agbahime at Kofar Wambai market on June 2, 2016, Ahmed Dauda, alongside four other accomplices were on Friday arraigned at a Kano Magistrate Court.
Those arraigned along with Dauda are Abdullahi Mustapha; Zubairu Abubakar; Abdullahi Abubakar and Musa Abdulllahi.
All of them pleaded not guilty when the four-count charge was read before them.
Four other accused persons were not present in court, as they were still at large, according to the prosecution witness.
All the accused persons were charged with culpable homicide; inciting public disturbance, mischief and raising false alarm.
After taking their not-guilty plea, Chief Magistrate Mohammed Jibrin, adjourned hearing to June 28,2016, while the accused persons were remanded in prison custody, pending the hearing date.
    Reading the charges against them, the court clerk said, among others that “you, Ahmed Dauda on Thursday, June 2, 2016, burst into the shop of the late Mrs. Bridget Agbahime, alongside other accomplices, brutalised and held her hands and shouted: ”Allahu Akbar (God is great), accusing her of blaspheming Prophet Mohammed”.
Also, the court was told that the shout of Allahu Akbar attracted his other accomplices, all of whom accosted the late Agbahime in her shop, brutalising her in the process, which led to her subsequent death.
At the mention of the case on Friday, only the first and third accused persons had counsels, namely; Nazifi Yusuf and A.A Sadiq respectively.
However, after documenting all the charges against the five accused persons, who were present in court, the Chief Magistrate adjourned the trial to June 28, 2016, while the five accused persons were remanded in prison custody.

Arepo: IG deploys policemen, helicopter to flush out vandals

Adelani Adepegba The acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has deployed the Tactical Operation Unit, comprising of the Police Mobile Force, the Counter-Terrorism Unit and the Air Surveillance Team to flush out vandals and other criminal elements operating in Arepo and Ibafo areas of Ogun State. Gunmen kill four in Kaduna village attack

Gunmen Godwin Isenyo, Kadu na Unknown gunmen on Monday evening  invaded   Gurguzu village, near  Maguzawa, an outskirts of  Rigasa in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State,  killing four persons while many persons sustained varying degrees of injuries. An eyewitness put the number of those injured at six while another source said the figure was higher than six. The incident, it was learnt, took place some minutes after 6pm on Monday, when unknown gunmen rode on bikes invaded  a farm in the village and shot the farmers. Four died on the spot. Our correspondent also gathered that the injured victims were rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.
