DStv Basketball: Niger Potters beat Oluyole Warriors

Niger Potters of Minna on Thursday defeated Oluyole Warriors of Ibadan 69-66 in the Final-8 Playoffs of the DStv Basketball League. The match played at the National Stadium in Lagos was the first classification game in the competition.
The win has pushed Potters to fight for the fifth/sixth position while the Oluyole boys will Friday play for the eight and seventh positions as the season 2015/16 winds up.
Plateau Peaks also defeated Gombe Bulls in the second classification match. Peaks and the Potters will battle for the fifth place while the two losers play for the seventh and eight positions.
The semi-final matches are also billed for Friday while the final event will start from 4pm on Saturday. Kano Pillars, Kwara Falcons, Rivers Hoopers and Nigeria Customs are in the semi-finals after qualifying from their groups.
All the actions are being shown live onSuperSport. The classification games were seen live at homes across the African continent and the coverage will continue with semi-finals till the final game on Saturday.
For Friday’s broadcast, the semi-final matches will start at 2pm with Rivers Hoopers and Nigeria Customs battling for a place in the finals of the league while Kano Pillars will play Kwara Falcons later. The third-place playoffs and the final will take place on Saturday at 2pm and 6pm respectively and will be aired onSuperSport.

Arepo: IG deploys policemen, helicopter to flush out vandals

Adelani Adepegba The acting Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has deployed the Tactical Operation Unit, comprising of the Police Mobile Force, the Counter-Terrorism Unit and the Air Surveillance Team to flush out vandals and other criminal elements operating in Arepo and Ibafo areas of Ogun State. Idris said the deployment of the unit in the areas on Thursday was to ensure that normalcy returns to them in record time. Gunmen kill four in Kaduna village attack

Gunmen Godwin Isenyo, Kadu na Unknown gunmen on Monday evening  invaded   Gurguzu village, near  Maguzawa, an outskirts of  Rigasa in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State,  killing four persons while many persons sustained varying degrees of injuries. An eyewitness put the number of those injured at six while another source said the figure was higher than six. The incident, it was learnt, took place some minutes after 6pm on Monday, when unknown gunmen rode on bikes invaded  a farm in the village and shot the farmers. Four died on the spot. Our correspondent also gathered that the injured victims were rushed to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.
