Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu, and ex-Julius Berger defender, Shakiru Giwa, have joined Premier League side, Ikorodu United.
Shorunmu was engaged as the Lagos side’s goalkeeping coach while Giwa joined as an assistant coach for the rest of the season.I
korodu, who are struggling in the league, had recently appointed Theodorus Jacob de Jong as their head coach in place of former Warri Wolves coach, Sam Okpodu.
The club said in a statement on Wednesday that the three new officials would be on duty during Sunday’s Lagos derby between MFM and Ikorodu at Agege Stadium.
An official of the club, Tunde Ayoola, said, “Shorunmu and Giwa were presented to the team on Tuesday as goalkeeper trainer and assistant coach respectively. Shorunmu actually met with the players on the same day during training to familiarise himself with the bench and players.
“Their jobs are well spelt out to work assiduously hard to ensure the team survive relegation in the on-going season.
“Incidentally, all the appointees will be on bench for the first time in Sunday’s clash at MFM in Agege. We hope their experiences will signal an instant rebirth of the side’s fortune and firm path of survival. They are happy with the enormous challenge on their shoulders and promised not to disappoint.”
